چکیده

Background and Aim: The new nomenclature of metabolic syndrome (MeS) associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is characterized by hepatic steatosis (FL) the presence at least one following i.e. Type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity dysregulation. aim this study was to determine risk factor profile individual components MAFLD. Methods: From October December 2022, 341 patients coming in for master health check-ups centers were screened FL, assessed 3 conditions: Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), overweight/obesity (BMI 23 kg/m2) dysregulation (APASL criteria: 5 criteria) WC 90 (men); 80 cm (women); BP >130/85 mm Hg, TGL >150 mg/dL, HDL <40 mg/dL <50 (women), prediabetes (B sugar (fasting) 100-125 or postprandial 140-199 HbA1c 5.7-6.4%. Patients evaluated these conditions FL. Results: Of 190 with 172 had dysfunction (90.5%), 164 raised BMI (86.3%) 69 (36.3%). A combination MeS high present 97 (51.1%) all three 52 (27.4%). (12.1%) found have Lean type MAFLD i.e < kg/m2. In absence FL (151 patients), 104 (54.7%) MeS, 34 (22.5%) T2DM 91 (60.3%) BMI. Significant contributors were: Overweight/obese (Odds Ratio (OR) 4.16) Waist circumference (men) (OR 5.61), mellitus 1.96) Raised Triglyceride levels 4.77). Conclusion: Diagnosis based on definite indicators can help enhance identification at-risk patient groups tailor management.

Perinatal risk factors for childhood obesity and metabolic dysregulation.

BACKGROUND Childhood obesity has increased significantly in recent decades. OBJECTIVE The objective was to examine the perinatal risk factors related to childhood obesity. DESIGN In a prospective study, 89 women with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) or gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and their offspring were evaluated at birth and at 8.8 +/- 1.8 y. At birth, obstetrical data, parental ant...

Obesity and hepatotoxins as risk factors for fatty liver disease.

Generally fatty liver disease (FLD) is attributed either to alcohol, diabetes mellitus, or obesity. To evaluate this commonly held clinical belief, a case-control study of FLD in Western Pennsylvania was conducted with 19 cases being identified over a two year period. Cases of FLD were significantly heavier and were significantly more likely than controls to have exposures to either agents with...

Metabolic factors and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease as co-factors in other liver diseases.

Over the last few years, the paradigm in hepatology has changed from focusing on a single liver disease to considering concurrent diseases, in particular obesity and related metabolic factors. Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally and is associated with insulin resistance, steatosis and a low-grade systemic inflammatory state. These metabolic factors have a synergistic role in the n...

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with cardiovascular risk factors of metabolic syndrome.

AIM To evaluate the prevalence of steatosis and to assess its correlations with the classical cardiovascular (CV) risk factors, components of metabolic syndrome (MS) in a rural population. MATERIAL AND METHODS A sample of 254 subjects was enrolled in the study. Collected data included: age, gender, complete medical history, anthropometric and blood pressure (BP) measurements. The biological e...

Metabolic risk factors in obesity and diabetes mellitus: implications in the pathogenesis and therapy

The increased prevalence of obesity worldwide is a serious problem as it invites several other metabolic chronic disorders including Diabetes mellitus, one of the major global pandemic now a days. Obesity raises the propensity of developing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by several folds. Adipose tissue derived increased amounts of non-esterified fatty acids, glycerol, h...
